Our mission is to educate and empower Romani American minority families who have not had a fair chance to vote or even attend an educational institution, due to racism and the limited rights they have been given as an outlawed and misunderstood minority race. For many years, Romani Americans have suffered and have had to hide their true heritage, due to fear of anti-gypsy laws, discrimination and racism.

 

THE PROJECT

 

 

Founded in 2010, Rom USA is a, nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization headquartered in Long Island, NY, serving all Romani subgroups in all regions of the country.  

 

Our goal here is not only to enable Romani Americans to vote, but to also come out of hiding their true heritage as Romani Americans, who have contributed cultural riches such as beautiful music, dance, and entertainment to our great country. We wish to procure our civil rights and be equal citizens, given a voice in the community. We also want to contribute to end the unfair racism that this minority has long suffered. Our mission is to also educate, and change the public's perception of this race. And ultimately, create an awareness and cultural understanding of this hidden but peaceful culture and religion.
